However on Wednesday QPS said water police had located his body about 7.40pm on Tuesday.
His death is not being treated as suspicious.
Detectives believe Jack fell into the Nerang River near the Isle of Capri while under the influence of alcohol.
Originally from Glasgow, Jack had been living and working for several years in Australia.
It is understood he had taken an Uber from Cavill Ave, in the entertainment heart of Surfers Paradise, back to his accommodation near Chevron Island but never made it inside.
The last confirmed sighting of him was walking along Gibraltar Dr alongside the Nerang River.
His family and friends are devastated by his loss.
“It is with a broken heart that I have to say my beautiful grandson has sadly been found,” his grandmother, Margaret Mooney, shared on social media.
“Thank you for all the lovely words and the shares. RIP Lewis Jack forever 22. Luv u loads.”
Many people have paid tribute to the young man who made the Gold Coast his home, offering their condolences to his grieving family.
“I can’t believe that I’m actually posting this,” close friend Gemma Robertson wrote on Facebook.
“Lewis, I can’t believe you’re gone.
