Global Samud Flotilla boat with Greta Thunberg onboard struck by drone in Tunisian waters

Israel has not yet commented on the strike.

A boat carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza with Greta Thunberg onboard has been struck by a drone.

The Global Samud Flotilla (GSF) confirmed its main boat, known as the Family, was hit while travelling in Tunisian waters on Tuesday.

The boat’s main deck and below deck storage suffered fire damage.

Six steering crew members were onboard at the time, including 22-year-old Swedish activist Greta Thunberg.

No one was injured.

“Acts of aggression aimed at intimidating and derailing our mission will not deter us,” the Global Samud Flotilla said.

“Our peaceful mission to break the siege on Gaza and stand in solidarity with its people continues with determination and resolve.”

The GSF released CCTV footage of the moment the boat was struck, with passengers onboard heard screaming for help.

“We’ve been hit. Fire,” someone can be heard yelling.

The GSF is a citizen-led maritime initiative with a mission to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza.

The organisation says it is investigating the strike and will release more information when available.
