A welfare check on a busy motorway has ended in violence, with a man allegedly pulling a toy gun on officers during a confrontation on the side of the road.
Police were called around 10:20am on Tuesday to the northbound lanes of the Sunshine Motorway in Queensland, near the Wises Road on-ramp, following reports of a man slumped over the wheel of a parked car.

The situation quickly escalated when the police approached the vehicle, which had no number plates.
“The man was involved in a physical altercation with police”, Queensland Police Service (QPS) said.
During the incident, “the man presented a gel baster”, a toy gun that fires gel balls.
The man was arrested at the scene.
The man and two police officers sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
Investigations are ongoing.
Police have not confirmed whether charges have been laid.
The exact circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
Police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
