The government said its Point to Point Commission has received numerous complaints about taxi drivers taking advantage of people who have never been to Sydney before, hiking up the cost of fares.
More than 1100 fines have been issued to taxi drivers since the introduction of the Taxi Fare Hotline in November 2022.
