An elderly man is dead after being struck by a vehicle on the NSW south coast.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Windang Rd and Bakers Lane in Primbee — a small suburb of Wollongong — at about 6pm on Tuesday.

The man, who is believed to be aged in his 70s, was treated at the scene but could not be saved.

The 57-year-old female driver was uninjured and taken to Wollongong Hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene has been established and two northbound lanes of Windang Road remained closed at 11.10pm on Tuesday.
