Driver dies in horror crash along tree-lined road through dairy region in southeast Victoria

A man in the passenger seat was also found seriously injured.

A driver has died in a single-vehicle crash on Sunday.

He was travelling along Tomahawk Creek Rd at Simpson, a dairy town about 45-minutes inland from Victoria’s Twelve Apostles, when the car accident occurred about 3.40am.

The largely unsealed road is shouldered on one side by paddocks, and the dense bushland of Coradjil Nature Conservation Reserve on the other.

The car crashed into “several trees,” Victoria Police said.

The driver died at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.

A man in the passenger seat was also found seriously injured when emergency services arrived.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

There have now been 174 lives lost on Victorian roads this year, the grim tally is up by 19 since this time last year.

Investigations into the crash are ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
