A man in his 30s was rushed to hospital with critical head and abdominal injuries.

A hit-and-run has left a young man fighting for life after he was struck by a vehicle.

Emergency services were called to Fernvale Road in Brassall, on the outskirts of Ipswich in Queensland, shortly before 1 pm on Wednesday when the car hit the pedestrian.

Paramedics rushed the man, aged in his 30s, to Princess Alexandra Hospital with life-threatening injuries to his head and stomach.

“Police located the vehicle involved and have taken a man into custody,” a QPS spokesperson said.

“A crime scene has been declared and police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”
