Braydon Rogers, 25, is yet to enter a plea and will return to court in October.

A man charged with driving a car that fatally hit a toddler in the carpark of a Tyrepower store in Adelaide has appeared in court for the first time.

On Thursday, Braydon Rogers appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court to face charges relating to the death of Kyrie Horspool, 2, who died when he was struck on June 2 by a car that was allegedly driven by the 25-year-old.

Rogers is yet to enter a plea to the charges of causing death by careless use of a motor vehicle, driving without due care, and driving without P-plates displayed.

His lawyer asked the magistrate to adjourn the case for at least eight weeks to allow for negotiations with prosecutors.
