A group of teens living just a few houses down didn’t hesitate to jump into action.
“Without a second thought, we just jumped the fence,” one of the teens said.
“We got down there to see if we could help, see what we could do.”
As they approached the burning homes, the situation escalated.
“When we got down there, the propane tanks exploded,” another teen recalled.
The boys ran to a neighbouring house and saw a truck in the driveway — but no one was coming out.
“Our first thought was, ‘Oh crap, somebody is in there’,” one said.
Ring doorbell footage captured the teens pounding on the door. When they looked through the window, they saw a dog inside.
They then took turns attempting to kick the door in before, before eventually gaining access to the home.
Moments later, the footage shows the teens carrying two dogs to safety.
At the house next door, Jayden Sessions was in his backyard when he heard a strange sound.
“I heard like a whishing sound from the back of their house,” Sessions said. “Seconds later, I saw the flames.”
He ran to alert the person inside and made sure his fiancée, dog and cars were safe.
“Everyone was out, everyone was coming to make sure everyone was okay,” Sessions said.
He said it was really moving to see how much people stepped in to help.
The teens said they wouldn’t hesitate to do it all over again.
“Just how grateful the family was — it made you feel good inside,” one said.
Firefighters said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Neighbours have set up a GoFundMe to support one of the families affected.
