A paraglider stuck on a perilous cliff face has been rescued.

The man in his 50s crashed into the cliff near Otford Rd at Stanwell Tops, on the south coast of NSW, about 1pm on Saturday.

The paraglider was stuck “part way down” the cliff, as rescue teams rushed to the scene about half-an-hour north of Wollongong.

The man had crashed shortly after taking off, and plunged 10m, injuring his shoulder, NSW Ambulance paramedics told www.20304050.best.

The man and his gear appeared to be tangled in shrubbery on the cliff, 7NEWS footage of the rescue shows.

The multi-agency operation to free him involved Police Rescue, SES and NSW Ambulance.

It took more than three hours to bring the paraglider to safety, and members of the public were urged to avoid the area at the time.

The injured man was taken in a stable condition to St George Hospital, by paramedics who had been standing by until the vertical rescue was completed.
