The crash caused major delays as firefighters worked to free a person from the wreckage.

Dashcam has captured the crash of two vehicles in one of the Sydney Harbour Bridge’s so-called “death lanes” that caused hours of delay during peak-hour traffic.

The footage shows the cars smashing head-on and clipping two other cars in the process at about 8am on Wednesday.

One person needed to be pulled from the wreckage by the firefighters who used the jaws of life to free the trapped motorist.

The trapped person was taken to St Vincent Hospital in a stable condition with minor back injuries.

A second driver suffered minor injuries and has also been taken to hospital in a stable condition.

A third person was assessed by paramedics at the scene.

The scene took two hours to clear, causing major traffic delays.

The centre lanes in which the crash occurred are considered dangerous by motorists as they position vehicles travelling in opposite directions side by side, with no dividing barrier between them.
