Cyclist dies when struck by bus at Taronga Zoo in Sydney

There were four passengers onboard the bus at the time of the accident.

A cyclist has been fatally struck by a bus at a major Sydney zoo.

The accident occurred at Taronga Zoo on Bradleys Head Rd in Mosman about 10.35am on Sunday.

The cyclist, a man in his 50s, died at the scene.

He has not yet been formally identified.

The bus driver was not injured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

There were four passengers onboard the bus at the time of the accident and none were injured.

“Officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command established a crime scene which will be examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit,” NSW Police said.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Police remain at the scene and drivers have been urged to avoid the area.

No buses are operating from Taronga Zoo Wharf to the top zoo entrance.
