A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting his son in the head.

Emergency services found the 32-year-old with a gunshot wound to his head at a home in Bonnyrigg just after 5.30pm on Monday.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.

A 65-year-old man - believed to be the victim's father - was arrested and charged with shooting with intent to murder, attempted murder and a number of firearm and domestic violence-related offences.

He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Tuesday.
