A body has been found at a popular beach just metres from families and joggers.

Emergency services were called to Echo Beach at Tallebudgera Creek in Gold Coast’s Burleigh Heads when the body was located on the rocks about 6.45am on Saturday.

The death is not considered suspicious at this stage, though police have declared a crime scene and are continuing to investigate.

The popular Gold Coast spot sits near the busier Burleigh Beach and offers a quieter, family-friendly vibe that attracts both locals and tourists.

Elise, a nearby resident, told The Courier Mail the discovery was “horribly sad”.

“We have no idea what happened but it’s horribly sad to see this,” she said.

“My heart goes out to the family.”
