A child is charged with attempted murder in relation to a stabbing.

Emergency services were called to reports of a wounding at a residence in Augustine Heights, about 30 minutes west of Ipswich, Queensland, about 4pm on Sunday.

Police found a 55-year-old woman with a stab wound to her chest.

She was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in a serious condition.

The 12-year-old girl and the woman live at the same address, police confirmed.

The child has been charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

She was remanded in custody to appear in Ipswich Children’s Court on August 19.

Investigations remain ongoing.
