Acting Superintendent Brad Inskip confirmed that the two victims were related and that Gray was employed as their carer.
Police allege the crash was intentional.
Norma’s neighbour, Lee Hurren, said she was a popular Gympie local.
“Very active for an 85 year old.
“She does her mowing twice a week of her yard, plus the gardening.
“Active in the social areas of Gympie.”
Gray remains under police guard in hospital after suffering serious injuries in the crash and was mentioned in Gympie Magistrates Court on Thursday.
He did not apply for bail.
