Bryan Kohberger: Idaho college killer files sexual harassment complaint in prison, requests transfer

Bryan Kohberger is reportedly struggling to adapt to life behind bars, having already asked to be relocated and alleging that fellow inmates sexually harassed him.

The convicted killer, who was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for murdering four University of Idaho students, began voicing concerns almost immediately after his arrival at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution.

After spending just one night in J-Block, Kohberger wrote a letter on July 30 asking prison officials to move him to B-Block, which includes single-person cells and only allows non-contact visits.

“Not engaging in any of the recent flooding/striking as well as being subject to minute-by-minute verbal threats/harassment and on that and other bases (sic) Unit 2 of J-Block is an environment that I wish to transfer from,” he stated in the letter, which was obtained by People.

Prison staff responded by saying that flooding, which is when inmates deliberately overflow their cells with water to cause disruption, was a “relatively rare occurrence” and described J-Block as “generally a fairly calm and quieter tier.”

Officials then advised Kohberger to “give it some time” before seeking a transfer.

A few days later, on August 4, the convicted killer submitted another complaint, this time alleging sexual harassment after one inmate threatened him, saying: “I’ll b** f*** you,” while another reportedly taunted, “The only a** we’ll be eating is Kohberger’s.”

In their response to that filing, prison officials noted that “Kohberger feels safe to remain on tier 2 in J-Block,” suggesting they did not consider the threats serious enough to warrant moving him.

Kohberger is serving four life sentences after confessing to the murders of Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20.

All were found brutally stabbed to death on November 13, 2022 at their off-campus home.

They had been asleep in bed when Kohberger broke into the house, killing each of them but sparing two other housemates who were on a lower floor.
