A man has died in a serious multi-vehicle crash that shut down a major arterial road in Melbourne’s north.
Four vehicles — one of them a truck — collided on Summerhill Rd, near Epping Rd in Wollert about 3.40pm on Wednesday.

A man from one of the cars died at the scene.
A woman from the same car was airlifted to The Alfred Hospital in a critical condition, while two other occupants were taken to hospital by road with non-life-threatening injuries.
Three occupants of a second car and one person from a third car escaped injury.
The male truck driver was also taken to hospital as a precaution and remains under police guard.
None of the occupants have yet been formally identified.
7NEWS helicopter footage shows a red car crushed beneath a long truck, with bollards from the truck scattered across the road.
A blue car is also seen with its boot crumpled from the impact.
Investigations are underway into the cause of the crash.
