An armed man has caused the shock lock down of multiple streets in Queensland’s far north.

An emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) was made by Queensland Police about 12.30pm on Thursday due to an “ongoing policing incident” in Westcourt in Cairns.

An armed man was reportedly making threats at a home on Brophy St.

There were no reports of injuries or shots fired.

The PSPA was revoked at 6.26pm and the man is now assisting police.
