A New South Wales learner driver has had their licence suspended after driving a rented Lamborghini Huracan unsupervised.

On the morning of April 6, Bankstown Highway Patrol officers detected the Huracan “speeding down” Canterbury Road in Roselands, where it was selected for random testing.

The driver allegedly produced a learner licence, however there was no supervising fully licensed passenger in the Lamborghini.

The learner driver allegedly told police his supervisor was “supervising me from the car behind” – something which isn’t legal in any Australian state or territory.

Further investigations found the Lamborghini was a rental car, and no supervisor was following on.

The learner driver was fined almost $2000 and received six demerit points, while his licence was suspended on the spot due to not having a supervisor present.
