Comedian Dave Hughes has scored an invite to one of the year’s most exclusive celebrity weddings, where he’ll mingle with global stars at Spice Girl Mel B’s London ceremony.

Hughesy revealed he almost missed the invitation while filming I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! due to a month-long communication blackout.

“When I was in the jungle, it was a month with no contact with anyone,” he told news.com.au’s From the Newsroom podcast.

After leaving the show, he discovered an email from Mel B’s wedding planner asking, “Do you want to go to the wedding?” sent weeks earlier. “I quickly emailed back, ‘yes … we want to go to the wedding!’” he said.

The timing proved perfect, as Hughesy and his wife had already booked a July holiday in London, coinciding with the wedding date. “The wedding is a day in-between a couple of gigs I’m doing, so it’s a perfectly situated wedding date,” he added.

Mel B, engaged to hairstylist Rory McPhee since 2022, will wed at London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral-a venue reserved for MBE recipients like herself. “As I have an MBE, I am allowed to marry at St Paul’s,” she told The Sun.

The couple’s guest list includes all Spice Girls members, with Victoria Beckham designing Mel’s wedding gown. “Victoria actually designed my dress and my mum’s dress,” Mel B confirmed to the Today show.

Hughesy, who befriended Mel B on The Masked Singer, joked about networking opportunities: “Let’s hope all the Spice Girls are there, and Simon Cowell. I reckon he could do with me what he did with One Direction back in the day!”
