Mum’s hack for school lunches divides parents

‘That’s a great idea, if they don’t go soggy.’

An Aussie mum has divided the internet, after sharing the school lunchbox hack she swears by.

Domestic and cleaning expert Leanne says her trick “saves you so much time in the morning”.

The mum says she freezes her kids sandwiches and “they don’t even notice”.

Fillings such as “ham and cheese, Vegemite, jam, honey and peanut butter” all freeze well, she says.

“Then store (the sandwiches) in an airtight container and they won’t go soggy,” Leanne said.

She finished her post by asking other parents: “Do you find this gross? I would love to know if you have any school mum hacks”.

Commenters were divided, with some praising the trick, while others said they wouldn’t do it.

“I personally wouldn’t but it all depends on the time you have and if you work full-time,” said one.

“I wouldn’t eat a frozen sandwich so not making it for my kiddies,” added another.

“That’s a great idea, if they don’t go soggy,” said a third.

However, many thought it was a great time-saver.

“I love this idea,” said one, while another said: “Great way to save time.”

“Lifesaver,” added a third.

Meanwhile, another mum was recently slammed over the contents of her four-year-old daughter’s lunchbox.

The mum, known as Emily, said her daughter’s daycare complained “she did not send lunch” for the little girl.

“Usually, we send her a thermos with hot food, but this is what I packed today,” Emily wrote.

“A container with a huge strawberry, four enormous green grapes, half a clementine, four slices of ham, a cucumber, a Babybel cheese, a pack of Breton crackers, an Oreo, a small bag of snack mix and a large pack of seaweed.”

The mother said she messaged the daycare back when it complained, saying she had “covered all of the food groups”.

“I have never experienced criticism for our food choices, and I hope they are not giving her a hard time about this nor food shaming her,” she said.

Most people sided with Emily, suggesting the daycare was out of line.

“Why are they commenting at all? If they want to prescribe what is ‘acceptable’, they should provide lunch as part of tuition,” said one.

Another added: “They’re delusional if they can’t see that’s a lunch. Sounds like someone just wants to start trouble”.

But one commenter disagreed, saying: “You said you usually send a thermos, so they were probably looking for a thermos. I hope you weren’t too rude to them”.
