Mum Gemma Bird has shared a video demonstrating her simple foil trick.

“Did you know this? This is amazing, it cuts down half the time of ironing (which) means your cut half the energy you use,” the money and domestic expert said in an Instagram post.

“Plus if you’re like me and hate ironing, it’s a win win.”

All you need to do is to take off the ironing board cover and place a sheet of aluminium foil over the board, then place the cover back over the top.

“You will only need to iron one side (of your item), as the foil reflects the heat, taking care of the other side,” Gemma explained.

“This will save you time and money as well as energy.”

Gemma said you can keep the same foil on the board for months without having to change it.

“Make sure you put it on smoothly and a good tip is to pull the cover back to let it air,” she said.

Her video has received more than 400,000 views, with people loving her quick hack.

“Love this hack, it works so well. Thank you,” said one.

“Wow, what a game changer,” said a second.

“Cannot wait to give this a go,” added a third.

Recently, Aussie mum-of-two Leanne revealed her hack to stop pots from boiling over, and her video went viral.

The nurse, otherwise known as “Home with Leanne” on social media, explained how adding cooking oil to the rim of your pan is the key to preventing water from boiling over.

In the video, the mum shared other kitchen tips, including covering the drain in the sink with foil to “catch pan juices”.

She also suggested writing the date on the bottom of your jars to indicate when they were opened.

Her video has had more than 40,000 views, with many loving her “genius” and “clever” oil trick.

“I did not know that! Will be doing it from now on,” said one.

“Oh wow! Definitely need to try the oil around the rim trick,” added another.

“Love the oil hack, I’m trying this tonight,” said a third.
