Lim shared in a video that the reason row 13 is missing so often is because “in many cultures, number 13 is associated with bad luck”.

“That is why most airlines prefer to avoid igniting the superstitions of their customers and have opted to remove the number from the seating plans,” she said.

Lim says not having a 13th row is a practice many airlines worldwide follow, acknowledging the superstitions surrounding the number.

“The irrational fear of the number is known as ‘triskaidekaphobia,’” Lim explained.

The video has garnered more than 6000 views, resonating with the flight attendant’s followers.

Row 13 isn’t the only row that is sometimes skipped on board.

The number 17 is also considered unlucky in some cultures, such as Italian.

“This fear stems from the fact that the number 17’s Roman numeral, XVII, is an anagram of VIXI, which means ‘I have lived’ in Latin,” Abode Italy reports.

“Some consider this a bad omen as it implies that death is just around the corner.”

Lim frequently shares about her life as a flight attendant and facts about flying.

She recently revealed the secret behind black triangle stickers on airplanes.

“Passengers sitting next to the triangles get the best view of the wings,” the cabin crew member said.

Lim said if flight crew needed to check the wings, the triangles let them know the “best vantage points for the slats and flaps outside”.

“If you’re flying an airline that allows you to choose your own seat, look for one of the triangles in the cabin,” she said.

“Anybody who loves taking window shots or videos will get the best view over the wings from these seats.”
