The top 10 baby names for boys and girls have been released - with one name proving popular 11 years in a row.

Australia’s top baby names of 2024 have been announced — with Oliver being the favourite yet again for baby boys and proving to be the most popular boys’ name for the 11th year in a row.

McCrindle has compiled a list of the top 10 baby names for boys and girls after analysing the data and trends of every child born across Australia within the past 12 months.

Isla has reclaimed the top spot as the country’s most popular girls’ name after being knocked off by Charlotte last year.

Top choices for boys include Noah, Henry, Leo, Theodore and Hudson.

Henry has climbed to number three from five last year and Leo, William, Jack and Luca have moved down the ranks making way for Theodore and Hudson.

Noah, coming in at number two, and Charlie at number nine, remain un-changed in position.

While Isla is back at number one for 2024, the top baby girl name has been hotly contested between Isla and Charlotte for a number of years.

Isla has been particularly popular among parents of Gen Alpha but Charlotte has slipped to number three and Amelia has taken the position of number two.

Other top choices for girls include Olivia, Mia, Ava, Matilda and Harper.

Harper has made another entrance into the top ten, having featured in 2017, 2018 and 2019, while Hazel makes her debut to the top ten.

Lily is also on the list and has been a popular girls’ name for the last decade.

Willow, Ella and Grace have moved out of the top ten positions.
