Aussie shoppers outraged over ‘feral’ state of TK Maxx store

‘Wow, that’s pretty bad.’

A disgruntled customer has called out TK Maxx over the “feral” state of one of its retail stores.

The customer shared pictures of the TK Maxx store in Broadmeadows, Victoria, in a Facebook group, along with a lengthy post about the store’s apparent disarray.

The man said while he tried to be empathetic to staff, as he had been “in retail for over a decade”, he couldn’t believe what he said was the appalling condition of the aisles.

“The last three times I’ve been to TK Maxx, it’s been like this or worse,” he said.

“Lots of stock on the floor, misshelved items, lots of old coffee and drink cups on the shelves.”

The man also mentioned that when he purchased a blanket from the store, it set off the sensors as he left.

“I went back and asked the staff member if she had missed an anti-theft device and she said ‘no, they don’t have them’,” he said.

The disgruntled customer explained he felt “it was a training issue”.

He then asked the internet, “Are anyone else’s local stores like this or am I being too harsh?”

“I get some customers can be messy for whatever reason but that’s crazy messy, it looks as though they don’t even do a recovery or even a store clean up,” said one.

Another added: “I’d send those photos to the head office or their FB page/FB messenger - not only does it look terrible, it’s also a trip hazard.”

“Wow, that’s pretty bad. Never seen a store like this,” said a third.

However, one commenter disagreed and blamed customers.

“It’s the feral customers, the staff don’t do this,” one said as they defended the retailer.

“Just let the staff know that someone has gone through the aisle and there appears to be a hazard.”

TK Maxx responds

In a statement to 7Life, a TK Maxx spokesperson said: “At TK Maxx we strive to create an excellent shopping experience for all our customers.

“We are aware of the recent post about our Broadmeadows store, and are looking into it with the appropriate members of management.”
