Major Taylor Swift ticket blunder impacts fans: ‘Removing this offer immediately’

Swifties are facing a blow after an apparent offer for tickets to the Australian Eras tour was found to be false.

It was an announcement that had Taylor Swift fans on tenterhooks.

On Thursday morning, screenshots taken from the Accor website went viral after it teased a new opportunity to “access” Category A and suite package tickets to Swift’s Eras Tour Sydney concerts

There was one catch - according to the hospitality company’s website, the tickets could be purchased only with Reward points from Accor.

The website stated that Category A tickets could be secured with 12,000 Reward points, while Suite Packages could be snapped up for upwards of 35,000.

The announcement promptly sent Swift fans into a frenzy as they tried to figure out how to start collecting points.

However, the page was quickly wiped from the Accor website - and hours later a statement from Frontier Touring, the official organiser of the tour, was released.

“Frontier Touring wish to advise that stories in the media today that Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour tickets will be available through the Accor Live Limitless program are incorrect,” the statement said.

“Accor is not approved for this activity and have confirmed they will be removing this offer immediately.

“We remind fans that the only safe – and approved - avenue to secure tickets is through the official ticketing agency for the tour, Ticketek.”

A spokesman for Accor, meanwhile, said: “Accor Stadium have not announced any new tickets, nor do we know of any new tickets being released.”

If you’re looking to snap up resale tickets to Swift’s tour, Ticketek Marketplace is the official place to go.

The site is set to announce the new date of its resale event — after postponing the original September 4 sale.

“Please note that the commencement date for Ticketek Resale has been rescheduled with a new date to be advised,” Ticketek says on its website.

“Fans will be provided ample opportunity to list tickets ahead of the tour.”

Fans are advised to keep an eye on the official Ticketek website.

Ticketek Marketplace is the official fan-to-fan reselling platform, connecting sellers of tickets with prospective buyers.

According to the website, ticket resales are capped at a maximum 10 per cent above the original selling price to prevent scalping.

General concert tickets ranged from $79 to $379, with some VIP packages costing as much as $1249.

“Every ticket exchanged is reissued into the name of the new owner and guarantees fans entry to their event,” the website states.

The ticket’s original barcode is cancelled and Ticketek reissues a barcode to the new ticket holder closer to the time of the concert.

“The original ticket will become void to ensure you are the only holder of the ticket,” the website reads.

“Marketplace is the only place you can trust to verify that the Ticketek ticket is valid to ensure you are guaranteed entry at the time of the event.”

It is free to list a ticket on Ticketek Marketplace, but sellers need to set up an account for the transaction.

Tickets can be sold individually or as a group.

Once purchased, the ticket is sent directly to the buyer — and if, for some reason, it isn’t received, there is a money-back guarantee, according to the website.
