Australian television favourite Magda Szubanski has sent a touching message to a young fan from her hospital bed, where she’s currently receiving chemotherapy treatment for stage four cancer.
The 64-year-old actress, known for her portraying Sharon Strzelecki from Kath & Kim, recorded a special video message for 10-year-old Annabella Willis who had performed an impression of the beloved character.

“I just wanted to say darling thank you so much for your impression of Sharon Strzelecki,” Szubanski said in the heartfelt message posted on Instagram. “I’m in here having chemo and it really cheered me up and I’m very touched and that was a beautiful thing to do.”
The comedy legend is currently in her third month of chemotherapy treatment for advanced mantle cell lymphoma, which she said is “smackin’ me around right now”.
“Bless you my darlin,” Szubanski said to Willis in the caption of her post.
Szubanski’s message has touched hearts around Australia and across the world for showcasing her generous spirit even while facing her own health battle.
Within hours, thousands of fans and celebrities had replied to the Instagram post with messages of support.
“Sending all the love in the world to you, Magda darling,” TV cook Nigella Lawson said.
“Sending an abundance of love and strength to you Magda,” said Aussie model Megan Gale.
