In a new post, the popular younger brother of Bindi Irwin gave an update, sharing stunning up-close photographs of the texture, colour and patterning of crocodile skin.

“Croc trip 2023 is off to an amazing start, we have already caught new animals and are now tracking them using incredible telemetry technology!” he wrote.

“Studying crocs in the wild is vital to the survival of the species.

Fans were shocked and surprised by the pictures Robert shared, with many stunned by the beauty and patterning of the crocodile’s skin up close.

“The colour on that one is incredible!” one follower wrote.

“I love his colour and markings,” another agreed.

“Wow that’s so cool, I never would have thought that’s what crocodile skin looks like up close,” added another.

“We were visiting the Florida Everglades once and walking along the Anhinga Trail (and) a mama croc and her babies were over in the water a bit,” one follower shared.

“I was up on the boardwalk looking over at her and I was mesmerised by her perfection right down to her claws.

“She was still, ancient and amazing.”

“I have a feeling they will be around millions of years after us, just as they were around millions of years before us,” one follower said.

The crocodile photos were a fascinating contrast to a recent post Robert made about the hazards of finding spiders in your camping tent.

“Just an average night at an Australian campsite,” he wrote, sharing a video of a spider leaping off a canvas as terrified shouts are heard in the background.

“Robert Irwin - who literally hand feeds crocodiles - screaming at a spider,” one fan joked.

“Can’t blame him though, I think I’d rather feed the crocodile.”

“The fact that even you got scared is comforting,” wrote another.

“Hearing y’all scream made me feel SO much better about my own arachnophobia,” noted a third.
