I spent one night with Samsung’s new OLED S85F 83-inch TV, and I’m never watching a movie the same way again.

There are some products you try and think, ‘Yeah, that was nice.’ And then there are the ones that completely change the way you experience something as everyday as watching a movie.

For me, that moment came thanks to Samsung, who set me up for one night in a hotel room to test out their jaw-dropping new OLED S85F 83-inch TV.

Walking into the suite, I was immediately struck by the sheer scale of the TV.

It’s massive — you almost have to sit down and mentally prepare yourself before you turn it on.

But within moments of powering it up, I was completely immersed.

Explosions, epic fight scenes, and crystal-clear dialogue. The Avengers never looked (or sounded) this good. Credit: Sourced

Not just because of the glare-free screen that handled the bright hotel lights effortlessly, or the razor-sharp picture quality, but because of the sound. The sound! It felt like I was in the cinema, only I was in my PJs, on a cloud-soft couch, with room service and popcorn.

To give the TV a proper workout, I picked The Avengers. Big action scenes, sweeping visuals, layered sound. The OLED S85F handled it like a pro.

Explosions boomed, Iron Man’s suit clanked with detail, and even the quieter moments with whispered dialogue were crystal clear — all thanks to the inbuilt surround sound that genuinely made me look around the room more than once.
