There aren’t many liquid lipsticks I would stake my life on being fairly hydrating, deep in colour, non-flaky and vibrant for 24 hours straight.
But Revlon has absolutely nailed the brief with its newest launch.
The ColorStay Limitless Matte Liquid Lipsticks, which retail for $27.95 each, arrived on my desk earlier this week with claims it’s transfer-proof with a 24-hour no-budge hold.

It sounded too good to be true but the only way to bust this “myth” right open would be to try them for myself.
So of the 16 wickedly bright shades I selected Fire Off — a ruby red shade — and slathered the expertly tilted doe foot onto my lips.
Despite being terrified I was going to resemble a clone of Ronald McDonald I managed to remain in the lines of my lip just long enough to finish my makeup.
Then all I had to do was wait.
You can almost feel the formula settling into your skin and drying down — all in all it probably takes about 30 seconds.
After that point, I smacked my lips together and even went so far as to wipe a finger across them but nothing came off. Not one flake.
After having the lipstick on for an hour, I decided to test out eating and drinking.
There was no red on my drink bottle after a big gulp and it was all still attached to my face after a big bowl of carbonara. Impressive.
The formula contains triple hyaluronic acid plus cranberry extract to ensure it’s non-drying, which we ascertained quickly.
And there are 16 shades to choose from, so the team at Revlon has thought of every complexion.
By the time I was home from work and preparing for dinner, the red was still — well, just as red as it was when I put it on.
Some of the softer pink colours can be somewhat wiped off with a forceful swipe of a tissue but you’ll really need micellar water to remove the deeper berry tones, as I discovered come bedtime.
It’s the kind of lipstick that would be perfect for big events when you don’t want to be worried about re-applying but also don’t want to live in fear that the matte shades have “cracked” on your face.
