There’s something about a long weekend that just begs for a road trip.

So, a few friends and I packed our bags, queued up the Spotify playlists, and headed off to the Hunter Valley for a mini escape.

Just a couple of hours’ drive from Sydney, it’s the perfect spot for a weekend of wine, laughs and fresh country air.

And let’s be honest, it’s not really a road trip without a good set of wheels, which is why we were extra excited to test drive the new Mitsubishi Triton. Spoiler alert: it did not disappoint.

If you’re still picturing the Triton as a rugged tradie truck, think again. The new Mitsubishi Triton feels more like a luxury SUV disguised in a tough ute’s body. From the moment we hit the road, it was clear this was no ordinary utility vehicle.

The cabin is incredibly spacious — enough to comfortably seat four adults without the awkward elbow shuffles.

The leather-appointed seats, touchscreen infotainment system, and dual-zone climate control made the drive feel luxe and effortless.

It genuinely felt like a car built for comfort as much as muscle.

We tackled winding back roads, gravel tracks leading to cellar doors, and even the odd muddy vineyard driveway — the Triton handled it all without breaking a sweat.

The smooth handling and impressive suspension system meant not a single sip of takeaway oat latte was spilled on the journey (a win in itself).

There’s a real confidence that comes with driving a vehicle that’s built tough but doesn’t compromise on style.

If you’re in the market for something practical but plush, we’d seriously recommend taking the Triton for a spin.

Now, onto the fun stuff — where you can stay when you plan your trip to The Hunter Valley.

Because after a long day of wine tasting and cheese grazing, a plush pillow and a vineyard view are absolutely essential.
