Gold Coast entrepreneur and mum Pip Summerville could never have imagined that a minor travel mishap on a working holiday in Indonesia would be the catalyst for her creating a multi-million-dollar wellness brand.

In 2015, while working as an underwater photographer, Pip travelled to a remote Indonesian island.

As a devoted daily consumer of apple cider vinegar, she presumed sourcing it locally would be difficult so decided to pack a bottle in her suitcase, a decision she quickly regretted.

As soon as she opened her suitcase, Pip realised that the bottle had spilled everywhere and that everything then stank of vinegar.

“That was my lightbulb moment, I knew there had to be a better way,” Pip explains.

The wellness entrepreneur was determined to find a better solution so turned to her father, a pharmacist, and asked him whether apple cider vinegar could be put into capsule form.

That conversation then marked the beginning of what would become Tonik, a world-first supplement brand that is revolutionising the way people take apple cider vinegar.

Transforming her idea into a tangible product was no easy task, it took Pip two years of research, formulation, trials, and testing to develop Tonik’s Apple Cider Vinegar Capsules.
