Made from 100 per cent stain-resistant polyester and polyurethane foam, they are easy to clean and maintain no matter what kind of messy child you have.

The mats are available in both round and rectangle styles, in muted tones including beige, ivory and grey.

My pick from the new bunch is the Koa Ivory Plush Rollie Pollie Round Playmat ($449), which would look perfect either in a living room or a baby’s nursery.

But I also love the Una Beige Plush Rollie Pollie Playmat ($349), if you prefer something rectangular.

According to the co-founder of Miss Amara, the playmats were a natural progession with her creations.

“I have learnt after all these years that children are the pickiest when it comes to texture and comfort underfoot, so having something lush and soft for their little feet is a must,” Alexandra Tanya-Weller told Best Picks.

“Our new rollie pollie designs are on the spongier, bouncy side, which makes them safe and enjoyable, especially as most of a parent’s time is spent on the ground playing.”
