The mum behind an Aussie sleep suit business worth millions of dollars has launched a new range of summer-inspired sleep swaddles — designed to improve your baby’s sleep in the warmer months.

Love To Dream was famously dreamed up by Hana-Lia Krawchuk and her husband, after they gave birth to their son Elijah in 2008 and couldn’t get him to sleep for longer than 45-minute stints.

After months of sleepless nights and hundreds of dollars spent on products that promised to restore the family’s sleep, the Krawchuks found that nothing worked.

Through trial and error, along with a healthy dose of mother’s intuition, Hana found that Elijah seemed to sleep better with his arms up, rather than wrapped against his body and down like most new mothers had been taught to do.

Following this, she used her skills as an experienced fashion designer to refine, simplify, sample and re-sample the very first version of her signature Love To Dream Swaddle Up.

By the following year, Swaddle Up hit stores in Sydney, and two weeks later it had sold out.

The rest is history for Love To Dream, whose swaddles are now a staple of many new parents’ baby kits.

I personally swore by the Arms Up Swaddles with my daughter, Florence, who far preferred to snooze with her arms in the air than she did cocooned in a regular swaddle.

The brand has now released Swaddle Ups in multiple different colours, prints and tog levels — whether it’s cold and you need a 3.5 insulation or it’s a tropical warm day and 0.3 is all that is required.

According to a survey of 1,242 parents conducted by Love To Dream in 2017, some 83 per cent of them reported an increase in the average hours slept by their baby using the Swaddle Up.

After using Swaddle Up, the average baby sleep time surveyed increased from three hours and 45 minutes to seven hours and 25 minutes — almost double the sleep.

The Swaddles have also won numerous awards, including silver at the Made For Mums Awards in 2023.

Reviews online are unsurprisingly glowing.

“This suit is amazing for an active sleeper. My boy is instantly soothed when wearing this. We have 3 now and they are fantastic,” one mum wrote.

“I have used these for all three of my children, and I can say it’s definitely made a difference to their sleep and comfort!” another added.

A third said: “Best thing we have bought. My little boy has issues with gas and the swaddle really helps him to sleep”.
